Best AI Visibility Trackers in 2026

An AI visibility tracker sends real prompts to real AI systems (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude) on a schedule and reports how often, and how favorably, your brand shows up in the answers. That's a genuinely different product than our free checker, which audits technical crawlability rather than live citation frequency. This page compares the tools worth paying for, and is honest about which well-known names in this space we don't recommend as paid picks, and why.

Checker vs tracker: which one do you actually need

If you haven't already, run our free AI Visibility Checker first. It answers the more fundamental question: can AI systems technically read your site at all. A tracker is the next step up, for teams who've confirmed their technical foundation is solid and now want to know whether their brand is actually being cited in live AI answers, and how that changes over time or against competitors.

Trackers require an ongoing LLM API subscription on the backend to send prompts at scale, which is why every credible tool in this category is a paid product. Be skeptical of anything that claims to offer this for free; the underlying cost structure doesn't support it.

All three have publicly documented, open partner programs, verified directly against each vendor's own site as of this guide's publication date. We link to them because we'd recommend them regardless of any partnership.

Tools we tested but don't recommend as paid picks

These are real, capable, widely used tools in this space. We're not recommending them as our paid picks above for one specific reason: as of when we checked, none of them run an open, publicly documented affiliate or referral program with published terms, which is the bar we hold every recommendation on this page to.

If any of these fit your workflow better after a trial, that's a completely reasonable choice. We simply don't have an open, verifiable partnership to point you to for them the way we do for the three tools above.

What to actually compare when you trial one of these

Whichever tool you trial, check these before committing to a paid plan:

  1. Which AI systems does it query? ChatGPT and Perplexity coverage is table stakes; Gemini, Claude and Copilot coverage varies by tool.
  2. How many prompts per month, and can you customize them? Generic industry prompts are less useful than prompts that match how your actual customers ask questions.
  3. Does it separate brand mentions from actual citations/links? Being mentioned by name is a weaker signal than being linked or quoted directly.
  4. Is there a free trial? Every tool listed above offers one; use it against your own real prompts before paying.

And regardless of which tracker you pick, re-run our free AI Visibility Checker periodically. A tracker tells you what's happening today; the checker tells you whether the technical door is even open for it to keep happening.

Why this site doesn't build its own live tracker

It would be straightforward to bolt a 'live AI mention checker' onto this site and charge for it, the way most tools in this category do. We chose not to, for a specific reason: doing it honestly requires an ongoing LLM API subscription per check, which means either charging a recurring fee or quietly degrading quality to control costs. Neither is compatible with the free, no-signup checker this site is built around.

Instead, this page exists to point you to the tools that already do that job well and transparently, so you can make an informed choice about paying for it, rather than us building a worse, hidden-cost version of the same thing.

Frequently asked questions

What's the cheapest way to start tracking AI visibility?
Start with the free technical checker on this site's homepage, since a blocked AI crawler or a missing schema block can be fixed at no cost and often has more impact than a tracking subscription. Move to a paid tracker like the ones above once you want live citation-frequency data across ChatGPT, Perplexity and other AI systems.
Why don't you recommend Peec AI, Profound or Otterly as affiliate picks?
Not because they're worse tools. As of when we checked directly against each vendor's own site, none of them had an open, publicly documented cash-affiliate program with published terms, which is the specific bar this page uses for its paid recommendations. They're still worth trialing on their own merits.
Do AI visibility trackers guarantee my brand will be cited?
No credible tool can guarantee that, since no vendor controls what a third-party AI model decides to cite. Trackers measure and report citation frequency over time; they don't control the underlying AI system's behavior.
How is Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit different from regular Semrush?
It's an add-on module inside the broader Semrush platform focused specifically on AI-answer visibility tracking, rather than traditional keyword ranking, which is what most of Semrush's core product tracks.
